SINGER OF AN EMPTY DAY (excerpt from “The Earthly Paradise” by William Morris, 1868-1870) Dreamer of dreams, born out of my due time. Why should I strive to set the crooked straight? Let it suffice me that my murmuring rhyme Beats with light wing against the ivory gate, Telling a tale not too importunate To those who in the sleepy region stay, Lulled by the singer of an empty day. Folk say, a wizard to a northern king At Christmas-tide such wondrous things did show, That through one window men beheld the spring, And through another saw the summer glow, and through a third the fruited vines a-row, while still, unheard, but in its wonted way, Piped the drear wind of that December day. So with this Earthly Paradise it is, If ye will read aright, and pardon me, Who strive to build a shadowy isle of bliss Midmost the beating of the steely sea, Where tossed about all hearts of men must be; Whose ravening monsters mighty men shall slay, Not the poor singer of an empty day.

EARTHLY PARADISE Verse 1 : Wake before you dream For nothing’s what it seems You might find your blindness waning Verse 2 : A new world is near Where weariness and fear Finally will be disappearing Bridge : Through the battlefield you slumber Don’t dread your enemy In your memories you fumble You’re nowhere The bloom now can spring Verse 3 : In your dream machine You rejoice and you feel Earthly Paradise is blooming Verse 4 : Wake before you sleep For nothing’s what it seems You might find you’ve been just dreaming

LADY OF THE CANYON Chorus : Lady of the Canyon (4 times) Verse 1 : Flow through my mind in a colored Stream Never ending source of life Sculpting memories of what has been And that’s never gonna die Winds make braids in your yellow hair Knots of gold and rings of clay Sand is covering your eyes of jade While the day draws to its end Chorus : Lady of the Canyon (4 times) Verse 2 : Moving mountains just waving your hands Only sand is what i see With the stream you’re going away from me Waters i drank taste of grief The empty river you drew through these stones Is too deep to be undone It’s a bruise that will never heal Here I wander all alone Verse 3 : Flow through my mind in a colored Stream Never ending source of life Sculpting memories of what has been And that’s never gonna die In my dreams I see your yellow hair And I try to hold the jade While the jade turns into desert sand Through my fingers running…

Þórsmörk 05:12
ÞÓRSMÖRK VERSE 1 : I’ve been searching for something to worship Through all my life Asked for Odin to show me his face In a northern night Slowly groping out Of brainwashing machines Clumsy preachers bringing us Back to the Middle Ages VERSE 2 : Far away from the land Where my mother sang lullabies At the age when my father Was already old and wise All the pieces perfectly Fit into place The magnificence of the Cosmos Now I can face CHORUS : Cause I found A maid with kaleidoscope eyes Knocking at my door Showing me all blue skies From the timeless time When the Universe came to life. ALL CHANGES Harmless ants Of dust we’re made Soulless, everything is just In our brains And our thoughts will disappear As the keeping chest decays Living in a wonderful nonsense We created our rules and morals Though the Universe goes beyond The meaning of good and bad As we know it Nothing exists beyond matter Nothing exists beyond matter And the Universe Has no moral Has no moral Has no moral

Anandi 02:18
ANANDI VERSE 1 : Sleep now It’s just the rain The sun will shine again Sleep now I’m on your side And I will keep you safe from the tide CHORUS Anandi my child This night may last a while VERSE 2 : Sleep now And I will sleep too Here there’s just me and you Though you Were never born You are my flower With no thorn

ELECTRIC TROUBADOUR Verse 1 The wheel of fate is turning The wind whispers no more Of fame and fortune’s yearning The blind lady won’t ever knock at your door Verse 2 Entangled with no warning The moon led you to parting ways A gong was then resounding As a dead end drew a close to those days Verse 3 Will you sing for me troubadour Now the pot head man lays in slumber Play a planxty play me a song of the tea pot that floats in wonder With satellite tea spoons That no one can see Will you tell me how it can be That the sun does not fall on the moon Verse 4 Why the rich man enslaves the poor How can one man control the masses Give them guns and send them to war Turn the world into dust and ashes Sing me of the one tale I have not been told Will you tell me my Troubadour Why we slaughter our brothers for gold Verse 5 The wheel of fate is turning The wind whispers no more Of fame and fortune’s yearning The blind lady won’t ever knock at your door Verse 6 You sailed back empty handed And in Tangier you left your wings Before this world ends stranded Won’t you tell me now why are we sleeping Verse 7 Will you sing for me troubadour Now the pot head man lays in slumber Play a planxty play me a song Won’t you tell me now why are we sleeping

PILGRIMS OF HOPE Verse 1 One man fell down from the sky And colored my flowers in red One woman tried to cross the sea Of her flesh the fish are now fed Verse 2 One man walked for days through the dunes And was buried by the sand waves One woman defeated the highest mountain The night carved her a white snow grave Bridge Another one flew like a bird yesterday And thousands are sinking while screaming their names The filthy humanity arising over here Rejoices of graveyards built under the sea As if being born in the west was something we have earned And the pilgrims of hope deserved death Verse 3 All those Ulysses who sank and drowned Like pebbles we cast to the sea And those who fell asleep on the ground I wish they all may become seeds End When we all will learn to fly We’ll see no boundaries in the sky We’ll all be part of the soft machine ‘cause there’s no war that we can win.

SATORI IN PARIS Verse 1: I recall a time from so long ago Of castles and trees Taking walks to haunted houses In the southern fields Verse 2: Now I’ve grown up And my life has brought me Here in this fair land Nothing seems to worry me There’s nothing that I really miss Chorus 1: But I cannot forget the sound of the sea It hurts to know that it’s not near That I cannot take a walk and contemplate Its immensity I never thought that I could leave Verse 3: In my home land grow the twisted trees Of contradiction Those that lead you to abandon Something you love Verse 4: And besides it was so long ago It’s worthless worrying Thinking about what it was And what it could be Chorus 2: But how far my home land Will seem to be To a child that I may have one day How meaningless my thoughts and pain Will seem to him If now I’m home why should I mind?

Syd 03:26
SYD Verse 1 You will never tell me anymore That I should grow up Get a haircut and Dress up like a man Verse 2 Though I worked so hard And lost my sleep Your would always see Me as a grasshopper Not as an ant Chorus 1 Life was hard For you from the start But I only wanted you To accept my ways To see that through the days When I was away I have grown up And become a man Verse 3 Tireless you took care of everyone ’til the winter came for you But you couldn’t sit and unwind Verse 4 Memories turn into shapeless pain When I want to call you and sing You’re out of sight out of mind Chorus 2 Through the sky It’s you who gave me life And let me overhear your voice Through your breast While on your lap I sat When the evening was calm And the night storm It did not break out Chorus 3 So now it’s my time to bring you Inside of me For we will never meet In the hollow vale Where willows weep And where time’s standing still

Iktsuarpok 04:16
IKTSUARPOK Verse 1 : I’m watching the ships sail away on the shore Mine is long time gone and won’t come back no more Verse 2 : I’ll plant a willow tree In my lawn Rustling in the wind And hiding my mourn Verse 3 : Narrow is the way To your desire Sing I will until You’ll hear the sound of my lyre Verse 4 : And walk in the meadows On my own Until darkness fades away And I greet the dawn Verse 5 : I’m watching the ships Sail away on the shore Mine is long time gone And won’t come back no more Verse 6: Forever I’ll be waiting on the strand Time will curse me…
11.
COLETTE THE WITCH Verse 1 : There once was a lady who Haunted all my dreams Through the wall late in the night I could hear her scream She could talk for hours Not saying anything In her opium trips She spat her anger against me Verse 2 : Colette the Witch her cat Lola Smoking on the door Talking about astrology And what the moon is for Twirling smoke around the symbols Tattooed on her brow She couldn’t understand my words And told me How I’ll dig my grave Verse 3 : I forgot about her until In the darkness of my garden Her silhouette through the window pane Drew terror on my face Her opium trips brought her away Somewhere far in the woods And through the wall It’s silent now She stopped screaming for good

about

Anandammide is a psychedelic folk project lead by Michele Moschini, featuring musicians from Italy, France, England and Sweden.

"Getting his inspiration from the most poetic British folk, Italian singer and multi-instrumentalist Michele Moschini imagined an album of a rare orchestral richness" (Sophie Rosemont - Rolling Stone France - Feb 2021)

"Anandamide (in italian Anandammide ntr), as told by the multi-instrumentalist and main architect of this project Michele Moschini, is an endocannabinoid that has been discovered in 1992 by Raphael Mechoulam at the Jerusalem University.
But Ananda also means "bliss" in Sanskrit, and bliss permeates this 11 tracks of a psychedelic folk we haven't heard since the acid weird folk hangover of the early 2000. The references go to those happy days and bands like Fit&Limo, Espers, Village of Space come to my mind, then the golden years of British Psych Folk, the one of less known bands like Forestt, Mellow Candle, Synasthesia, though here and there we can also hear something of the early King Crimson and Caravan of "in the land of grey and pink". And in Electric Troubadour, Pilgrims of Hope, Satori in Paris, Iktsuarpok, it feels like living those pastoral days again, with sweet melodies sometimes medieval, sometimes just dreamy, with sparkles of guitars, flutes, cello, violin and also an old Gem Jumbo 49 organ and synth in plain sight. While the spoken part in the intro "Singer of an Empty Day", punctuated by tin whistles, acoustic guitars and percussions, is an excerpt from the poem "The Earthly Paradise" by William Morris.
With Michele Moschini playing several instruments, there's Adrien Legendre on the cello, Audrey Moreau on the flute, Stella Ramsden on the violin and Pascal Vernin on the bass guitar.
You may say that we're out of time with these kind of things, but who cares, this is a little gem, indeed. (Gino dal Soler - Blow Up Magazine, Feb 2021 - Italy)
